About Mackenzie, Business Strategy & Marketing Expert
I'm Mackenzie Kilshaw (Firby), a business strategy and marketing consultant for small business and entrepreneurs.
Growing up on a farm near a small town shaped my entrepreneurial spirit. From the fields to tight-knit community bonds, I learned resilience and determination which have been am important aspect of my life.
My journey began with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2003, supplemented by ongoing education in Digital Marketing from York University and Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School. For a decade, I thrived within Saskatchewan's vibrant business community with companies including SaskTel and Hershey before taking the leap into entrepreneurship.
In 2014, I created, launched and operated my first business, Two Fifty Two Boutique (TFT), in Saskatoon, expanding to an online store in 2015 and a second location in Regina in 2017. I created my own retail line, Kilshaw Studio, in 2020. The entrepreneurial spark ignited further in 2022 with the creation, production, and launch of my podcast, #WINNING. In 2022 I became a full circle entrepreneur with the sale of TFT as an online entity. Mackenzie Kilshaw Co, my fourth entrepreneurial endeavour, launched in 2024.
My entrepreneurship has garnered recognition through receiving various awards and nominations including Women of Distinction, SABEX, and ABEX honors. As a three-time SABEX Award recipient for New Business and Customer Service, I strive to inspire others.
I am proud to be a sessional lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan's Edwards School of Business in the Department of Management & Marketing. I have had the privilege of teaching various courses including Introduction to Business, Introduction to Marketing, Digital Marketing and Business Strategy, where I share my expertise and passion for fostering the next generation of business leaders.
Community & Philanthropy
Beyond business, my commitment extends to community involvement and philanthropy. I was honored with the Canada 150 Medal in 2017 for my dedication and service to the community. In 2020, I had the privilege of being a celebrity dancer in Swinging With The Stars, where I personally raised over $22,000 for the Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation.
I have served on various boards, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan and I currently contribute my time and expertise as a member of the Board of Directors of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
I call Saskatoon home, where I enjoy life with my husband and step-son.
My strengths and focus in consulting are in business strategy, leadership, marketing & sales (including face to face and online) and customer service.
My passionate dedication to business and championing the success of entrepreneurs has guided me into consulting. I've walked in your shoes - from launching a business, managing daily operations, growth and strategizing long-term plans, to selling my venture and starting anew. Throughout my continued education, the highs and lows, the triumphs and setbacks, I've gained invaluable insights that I'm eager to share.
